RideGlass is a motorcycle dashboard and ride recorder for iPhone, published by Greg Raine. These terms govern your use of the app. Questions: greg@rideglass.com.
1 · Acceptance
Downloading or using RideGlass means you accept these terms and the Apple Media Services terms that cover App Store distribution.
The agreement is between you and Greg Raine, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom. Apple is not a party to it. Apple distributes the app and processes purchases, and its own terms apply to that relationship separately.
You need to be old enough to hold an Apple Account in your country, and RideGlass is written for people who are licensed to ride. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the app — delete it, and that is the end of it. Nothing here obliges you to keep using RideGlass.
2 · Licence to use RideGlass
RideGlass is licensed, not sold. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control.
The licence covers using RideGlass as it is published, for as long as you keep it installed, on any device your Apple Account covers. It is yours to use, not to sell on.
You may not copy or redistribute the app, rent, lease or sublicense it, sell access to it, or reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it except to the extent the law expressly permits regardless of this clause. You may not strip out or alter any notice inside it.
The licence ends if you break these terms, and you can end it yourself at any time by deleting the app. Ending it does not touch the rides already on your phone, and does not entitle either of us to a refund of a purchase Apple has already processed.
3 · RideGlass Pro purchases
RideGlass Pro is a one-off in-app purchase, not a subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple and restore across devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
The price you see is set per storefront and shown in your own currency, inclusive of the taxes Apple collects for your region. Apple is the merchant of record: it takes the payment, issues the receipt and handles every refund. Refund requests go to Apple through Report a Problem, not to us — we cannot grant or refuse one.
Pro is tied to your Apple Account, not to a device. Signing in to the same account on another iPhone and tapping Restore brings it back, at no further cost and with no time limit. If Apple refunds the purchase, the entitlement is withdrawn and Pro features stop; the free dashboard, recording and backup are unaffected, and your existing rides stay exactly where they are.
4 · Acceptable use
Do not use RideGlass to break the law, and do not use it to help anyone else do so. In particular, it is not a tool for evading speed enforcement, and its recordings are not a defence to anything you did on the road.
Do not interfere with the app or the backup service: no probing, no attempting to gain access to another rider's data, no automated hammering of the service, and no use of the app to distribute anything harmful.
How your phone is mounted, powered and operated is entirely your responsibility, and so is whether that mounting is legal and safe where you ride. A phone that comes off a handlebar is a mounting problem, never an app one.
5 · Riding safety & risk
Always ride safely, obey local laws and never interact with your phone while riding. RideGlass is an instrument, not a riding aid: readings are informational and must not be relied on for navigation, legal speed compliance or safety-critical decisions.
Every figure RideGlass shows is derived from consumer phone sensors and is an approximation. Speed comes from GPS and can lag, drift or drop out entirely under trees, in tunnels and between buildings. Lean angle and G-force are computed from the accelerometer and gyroscope and depend on the phone being mounted rigidly; a loose cradle produces confident, wrong numbers. Altitude combines a barometer that weather moves with a GPS fix that is coarse in the vertical. None of it is calibrated equipment, none of it is legally certified, and none of it should be treated as evidence.
Your speedometer, not RideGlass, is what you ride to. Never look at, touch or configure the app while moving.
Motorcycling is dangerous, and you accept that risk yourself. You are responsible for your own riding, for obeying the law, and for the condition of you and your machine. Nothing in the app makes any of that safer, and nothing in it is a substitute for your own judgement.
6 · Your ride data
Your recorded rides are written to your device, and backed up to our cloud service once you sign in. Keeping your own copies — including via CSV export — is still up to you. See the privacy policy.
Your rides are yours. We claim no ownership of them, and we do not use them to train anything, sell them, or share them with anyone.
The backup service is a convenience, not an archive, and it is offered without a guarantee. It can be interrupted, and rides that have not finished uploading are not backed up at all — the app shows you which those are. Treat CSV export as your real backup if the data matters to you.
Rides are lost if you delete them, if you delete the app, or if you reset or lose the phone without a backup and without having signed in. Deleting your account deletes the uploaded copies on purpose and does not touch the rides on your device. None of that is recoverable by us afterwards — there is no copy on our side that survives it.
7 · Intellectual property
RideGlass — the software, the name, the chevron mark, the interface and the design of this site — belongs to Greg Raine. The licence in clause 2 lets you use the app; it transfers nothing else, and it grants no right to use the name or mark.
What you produce with it is yours: your rides, your exports and the ride cards you share. The app also uses third-party components under their own licences, including Apple's frameworks, Google's Firebase SDKs and map data from Apple Maps, each of which remains its owner's property.
8 · No warranty
RideGlass is provided “as is” and “as available”. It is not promised to run uninterrupted or error-free, to be compatible with every phone, mount or iOS version, or to produce accurate readings — see clause 5, which is the substance of this one.
None of that displaces your statutory rights. If you are a consumer, the rights your own law gives you over digital content stand whatever this clause says, and nothing here tries to exclude them.
9 · Limitation of liability
Some liability cannot be limited by anyone, and is not limited here: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and anything else your law does not permit to be excluded.
Subject to that, RideGlass is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, revenue or opportunity, for lost or corrupted ride data, or for loss or damage arising from how the app was mounted, from riding while using it, or from relying on a reading it displayed. Where liability can be limited, it is limited to the total amount you have paid for RideGlass in the twelve months before the claim.
10 · Changes & governing law
These terms can change as the app changes. When they do, the date at the top of this page changes with them, and a change that affects your rights or what you pay will also appear in the release notes for the version that introduces it. Continuing to use RideGlass after that is how the new terms are accepted.
If any clause here turns out to be unenforceable, it is severed and the rest stands unaffected.
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, that does not take anything away from you: you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts as well as in England and Wales.
